Laura speaks at NASDAQ’s Building the Future Summit to kick off NYC Climate Week 2025. The theme of the summit was to examine system innovations across various sectors. Laura focused her talk on the benefits of Regenerative Agriculture and Grazing and how the investment of capital can help speed up and scale up the transition of farmers and ranchers from industrialized farming to regenerative farming. When farmers use the principles of regenerative agriculture — such as no-till, cover cropping and managed adaptive cattle grazing — soil health can be restored. The many benefits of using these practices include drawing down carbon out of the atmosphere; reducing soil erosion; reducing the amount of expensive chemical inputs like fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides; and growing healthier animals and food. Also, farmers stand to make more profits. Other critically important benefits of using these practices include addressing the extinction crisis by bringing back more native plants, pollinators and bird species; improving freshwater systems; restoring groundwater and improving ocean health.
