I found the perfect song by Tongan singer/songwriter Mia Kami to honor our collective strength as #planeteers and also acknowledge #NationalArborDay. Kami was honored by the @unfoundation United Nations Foundation in 2022 with a Global Leadership Award. Kami who is also an artist, storyteller and Climate Justice activist was recognized for her work bringing art and action to protect the world's ocean. She's such an inspiration - and I hope this song lifts you up as it does me!

What an impactful way to celebrate #earthmonth !

My talented sister @jenana1234 Jennie Garlington is the Co-Executive Producer and Host of the @ecosenseforliving Ecosense for Living series. The series illuminates the @turnerfdninc Turner Foundation, Inc. mission of protecting and restoring the air, land, and water on which all life depends. The four newest episodes of this award-winning program (Season 8) will air as a double-feature on @gpbmedia Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) (4/23 and 4/30 - 7pm / 7:30 ET) and will also stream on @pbs PBS after they make their screening debut.

The programs explore the planet-saving work of scientists, organizations, and conservationists across the country and beyond -- and give viewers inspiration for more sustainable solutions. Ecosense for Living episodes can also be found on PBS Learning Media with special resources, and lessons for #planeteers - Grade 6-12.

Create a little watch party with your friends and family - and learn how the issues connect back to you - and how you can take action to be a planet steward. A hearty congratulations to Jennie, the whole team at EcoSense, and all the talented trailblazers interviewed.

What a wonderful and impactful evening -- attending the @ewgverified Environmental Working Group Earth Dinner with such a passionate crew - @robynobrienusa Robyn McCord O'Brien, @zemj Zem Joaquin, @ninamontee Nina Montee-Karp and @shallyshanker.

Eco-Warrior - @debblev Debbie Levin-Fogel, CEO of @green4ema Environmental Media Association was honored last night for her incredible contributions to environmental health.

California assembly member @laurafriedman was honored for her work driving the paraquat ban in California - a big-agriculture highly toxic herbicide consistently linked to Parkinson's diseases and childhood leukemia. Hopefully California will set the bar and the nation will follow to protect public health.

This past weekend I took part in the 14th annual #sweepthehooch organized by @crkeeper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. I was one of 1,400 volunteers who helped clean up 66 sites.

As you can see in the before and after photo - at my site -- there was a radical improvement! By our powers combined we collected tons of trash, tires and recyclables.

Not only do volunteer efforts like this help beautify Atlanta's Chattahoochee River and its tributaries - but it helps prevents trash from polluting downstream communities and eventually our world ocean. It also boosts the well-being of #planeteers like me - nurturing a deep connection with the natural world.

States like Georgia that don't have bottle deposits have pitiful recycling rates and are the biggest contributors to plastic gyres in our ocean. This #worldwaterday💧 I shine a light on a charismatic eco-partner at Team Turner: the beaver -- whose dynamic role creates habitat and benefits fish, wildlife, and people. These keystone species often referred to as the "ecosystem engineers" and "the architects of North America'' are essential collaborators in watershed restoration. They can help manage water-related issues such as drought, flooding, and water pollution. The impact of their dams and pools help to reduce soil erosion and provide safe nurseries for fish -- and everything that lives in or depends on wetlands and the food that grows there.
