We should all remember Earth Day should be every day! There are so many small actions you can take to not only help the environment, but also save money, improve your children’s health and achieve a better quality of life. I spoke to Brenda Wood about two things parents can do today to get their children on the path to a cleaner, healthier lifestyle.
1. Gardening & Composting – Children love to grow their own fruits and vegetables, and they love to eat the fruit and vegetables that they grow!
2. Reusable Water Bottles – We all need to get away from one-use items like plastic water bottles and straws. Thousands upon thousands of plastic water bottles fill our streams, oceans, parks and landfills. Just one person choosing to say no to plastic water bottles positively impacts the cleanliness of our planet.
I know it becomes overwhelming sometimes to remember all the different ways we can help our planet. I’ve come up with a handy acronym you can use to teach your children the steps they need to take to make a difference.
G – Gardening & Compost
R – Recycle
E – Energy Conservation
E – Educate Kids
N – Now is the Time to Start!
